Volunteers Needed!
Help Wanted! Volunteer market managers are essential for the market's weekly operation. They set up and break down the market every Saturday, supporting vendors to ensure a positive experience for all.
Typically, each volunteer market manager works one shift per month, lasting 2.5 hours. The shifts are divided into two main time frames: the opening shift from 7:30 a.m. to 10:00 a.m. and the closing shift from 10:00 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. Generally, there is only one market manager present during each shift, except during the setup and breakdown phases, when additional help may be required.
While the market is in operation, the volunteer market managers have several responsibilities. They ensure the safety of both vendors and patrons, watch over vendor stands when necessary, guide pet owners regarding pet regulations, provide change for vendors, and assist with market activities. Depending on whether they are on the opening or closing shift, they participate in setting up the market or breaking it down, which includes assisting vendors with unloading or loading their goods and directing traffic as needed.
In addition to their immediate duties during market hours, volunteer market managers also contribute to the overall success of the market. They collaborate with each other to develop engaging market programming, suggest improvements, and help manage social media and email communications to keep the community informed about market events and updates. Their dedication helps create a vibrant and welcoming environment for everyone involved.
